Andrea Piccioni

Considered among the greatest exponents of the art of frame drums, Andrea is the founder of a profound technical and stylistic renewal of the Italian drum and with his style crosses the boundaries of jazz, ancient music and world music, collaborating with artists such as Bobby McFerrin, Paul McCandless, Dónal Lunny, Gianluigi Trovesi, Luciano Biondini, Basel Rajoub, Caitríona O’Leary, Les Haulz Et Les Bas, Riccardo Tesi, Manfred Leuchter, Lucilla Galeazzi, Wu Man, Zarbang ensemble.

Since 2014 Andrea has been collaborating assiduously with the Aga Khan Music Program, which awarded him the title of “Master Musician”.
Andrea regularly holds workshops and masterclasses in the most prestigious international festivals.
In 2009 he published the first educational DVD entirely dedicated to the tamburello entitled “Il Tamburello Italiano“.

Andrea is a resident lecturer at the most important frame drums festival in the world: Tamburi Mundi (Freiburg, GE). He is also an appreciated lecturer in the most important festivals, universities and conservatories around the world.

Andrea is currently a teacher of the Frame Drums course within the Traditional Music department of the P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Catanzaro.

Since the 2021 edition Andrea has been a teacher of our workshops.
